Chalkboard Paint
Once you have identified a place in the room that you feel will be able to have the chalkboard them you should use tape to mask off the area. You can then roll, brush or spray the paint on until the area is completely covered with a good amount of paint. You should remove the tape once you are finished painting, as if the paint dries, then there is a possibility that you will be lifting off the dried paint on the edges of the tape.
There are different types of chalk board paint which all offers something different. Depending on what you plan to do, you should pick a paint that will best suit your needs.
Regular – This is the paint that you can use and create a chalkboard surface out of anything.
Colored – This type of paint comes in a wide variety of colors. Depending on the brand you could have a rainbow of colors. The most common colors are green, black, white, blue and pink. These are explained in more detail here.
Spray – This is the spray paint version of chalkboard paint. You will be able to apply this as it is contained in an aerosol can. This means you can spray any surface it is easier to get on than regular paint.
Magnetic – Magnetic chalkboard paint adds a new dimension. Aside from making the surface writeable, it will also give it the element of some amount of magnetism. This means you will be able to add children’s toys that contain magnets in them and it will stick.
